Ski Magazine recently published their sought after collection of the top ranked ski resorts in North America. Steamboat keeps moving up in the rankings (it was No. 11 last year) because it excels where it counts: on the mountain. When it comes to Terrain, Challenge and Lifts, Steamboat earns Gold medals. Steamboat's August Market Update
The Yampa Valley boasted healthy sales for the month of August 08. With close to $60 million in total sales volume, a wide variety of Steamboat neighborhoods embraced strong transactions. The total sales for the month included four transactions valuing over $4 million each further determining that the luxury market is still riding a strong current of buyers and sellers. The average transaction price in Routt County is showing a great rise in value for ski resort property at $676,330.

Ski Corp. Plans Improvements for 2008/2009 Ski Season
Revegetation, work on snow-making machine on the agenda

Steamboat Springs - Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. has started its summer improvements to Steamboat Ski Area, but spokeswoman Heidi Thomsen said nothing major is in the works.
Ski Corp. will tune up its snow-making pipes and revegetate trails and other dirt areas, Thomsen said.
"Anyone can see when they're looking at the mountain, from Christie Peak Express down, it's brown; it's dirt," she said. "We'll be doing some topsoil and revegetation. That's kind of a project we'll be working ...

Wildlife generally isn't a factor on a mid-winter ski holiday.
But the squirrels were scurrying under the lift line and then a blue-green bird settled in the hand of a man on the chair in front.
My friend put her hand out and another bird briefly settled, obviously used to getting snacks from visitors. We preferred to think they were just saying welcome to Steamboat.
The critters were over the back of the main mountain, a predominantly black area called Morningside Park with ridiculously deep snow and gladed runs.
