About the Developers
Robert Comes
Growing up in Colorado Springs-skiing in the winter and hiking and camping in the summer--has given Robert Comes a fine appreciation of everything the state has to offer. He's carried this love of the outdoors through to his real estate development career, which spans 17 years. The former airline pilot's passion is in mountain development, creating communities that blend the beauty of the mountains with architectual innovation and sustainability. There's no better model for this than the Barn Village project in Steamboat. "Barn Village will be our signature project to date," he says. "We've used an environmentally friendly approach to ensure harmony between the development and its setting, preserving the barn and view of the ski mountain while providing a natural park and open space."
Previous projects include California's Glen Una Estates, selected by San Jose magazine as one of Silicon
Valley's 50 most beautiful housing developments, as well as countless other multi-unit community developments. Comes' special regard for the town of Steamboat is apparent when he says, "Steamboat is a wonderful family-friendly community with a very western feel," adding that his project offers a tremendous value compared to other resorts. "As people discover its charm, it will face some growing challenges, so smart, well-planned developments are paramount."
Eric A. McAfee
A managing director at Cagan McAfee Capital Partners in Cupertino, California, Eric McAfee is a developer and venture capitalist invested in more than 20 companies over the past nine years. Included in his real estate projects are the McAfee Performing Arts & Lecture Center in Saratoga, Calif., and the heralded McAfee Field House outside of Santa Cruz, utilizing logs, heavy timber, stone and standing-seam metal roofs to create a rustic, multi-purpose, 10,000-square-foot column-free facility.
The majority of his other business interests have been in renewable energy, oil & gas, networking and software concerns, eleven of which have gone public. A Congressional Award recipient for his volunteer work, McAfee is a board member of the California Manufacturers & Technology Association and a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Executive Program. He brings all this experience and more to The Barn Village at Steamboat, ensuring its long-term success as one of the most well-planned communities in the Yampa Valley.
